Admissions

At Hedgehog House Nursery, we care for children between the ages of two and five years old. We have a capacity for 24 children and offer both non-funded and funded places to children who qualify for free entitlement funding. This includes:

  • 2 year old 15 hours free entitlement**
  • 3 year old 15 hour universal free entitlement
  • 3 year old 30 hours extended free entitlement**.

Children are eligible to the above funding the term after they reach the qualifying age.

** Subject to qualifying conditions. Information can be obtained from West Sussex Family Information Service – 01243 777807

We operate an inclusive practice that ensures all children have access to a childcare place and service irrespective of their gender, race, disability, religion or belief.

When a parent contacts us to express an interest in our nursery, we invite them for a guided tour of the nursery.

Once a parent decides they would like their child to attend Hedgehog House Nursery, we arrange a registration meeting, during which registration forms are filled in and we can discuss in depth all about their child’s needs, likes and dislikes.

We will also arrange two one hour play and stay sessions prior to the start date which is attended by both parent and child.

There is a £20.00 registration fee to cover the administrative costs of registration. We ask that parents bring along their child’s passport or birth certificate as proof of age at the registration meeting.

Settling into nursery differs for every child and their parents. Some children settle into nursery very quickly, whilst other children may require a slower and more sensitive settling in process. We will always discuss the process best suited for each individual child during the registration meeting.
